Christmas Presents

I was a very lucky girl this year a received lots of craft goodies for Christmas people know me so well!

My mum got me a new sizzix machine I have a Big Shot and she upgraded me to the Big Shot Pro Plus. I need a wider one to cut out shapes in cards and will purchase some bigger dies for my scarpbooking.

My brother got me some dies and Tim Holtz distress inks and a tool to help spread it on to the paper I can’t wait to try them out.

My husband got me this lovely Gorguss girl die I am a fan of the Gorjuss girl!
My husbands family got me the We R memory keepers foil heat pen. I used it to make my friend a new home card as she has just moved.I will need to get some more stencils for this as I need some words stencils.

Did you get something crafty for Christmas?

Highline Super Scarf

When I was at the Knitting and Stitching show at Alexandra Palace I bought some Stylecraft super chunky special XL in grey. I purchased three balls as I wanted to make my husband a scarf for Christmas.

I started to make it in the middle of November using a 10mm hook but got so busy with other things.

I picked it back up on 23rd December and finished it on 24th December just in time! Once I got going it was really easy pattern and I made it while watching several films.

My husband thinks its very cosy and has been wearing it at work when he is outside to keep him warm. It wraps round him a fair few times I made it very long as he is 6’5.

Mini version.

I had a bit of yarn left over and my friend was visiting with her 18 month old daughter on 29th December so made a mini version of the scarf for her daughter. I added a button to the scarf so that the scarf will stay on.
My friend hadn’t bought her daughter a scarf yet and she looked very cute in it!

I used this video to get going but once I got started I didnt need it.

Christmas Cards

So I made all my Christmas cards this year. I made it my mission to do so as some years I make, some years I buy and other years I have done both!

I used my card-io stamps to make this set. I really like the black and white effect. I bought washi tape when I was at the Hobbycraft recently and I shall have to get some more as I really like it!

This is a bigger one using the card-io stamps I used yellow ink to make the sun effect in the background. I think the black border really sets it off.

This one is one I made for my mum. I used the card-io stamps but she isn’t keen on black and white so I used brown and green to stamp the images. I decided to set this in a window and add glitter to look like snow.
Her favourite colour is green and I used my new paper from the Stitching, Sewing and Hobbycraft show at the Excel centre in London.

My brother requested a snowman and a Christmas pudding. I think he was half joking and didn’t think I would actually make it. I cut shapes out on my Big shot machine and did some free hand. I’m very pleased with the outcome.

This card is for my husband he really likes penguins. I had to print a penguin from the internet and cut round it in black and white to get the outline I used promarkers for the eyes and nose. set on a nice background I put acetate over the top and added 3D Pearl effects to make it look like snow. This is a new effect that I haven’t tried before.

It was really satisfying to make ALL of my Christmas cards this year and I am really pleased I managed to achieve this.

Last Christmas…

Last Christmas it was mine and my Husband’s first Christmas day together, in previous years we had only seen each other on Boxing day.

In the month of December I reconnected with cross stitch and got a cute little penguin kit from Hobby Craft made by mouse loft.

In my lunch breaks I did the cross stitch penguin and then put it together to make a Christmas card.

I had to free hand cut the circle as the card wouldn’t fit through my Big Shot- this is when I decided that I needed to get the wider Big Shot machine and have asked for it this year. Hopefully I am a lucky girl!
